Driving Simulators are increasingly being used all over the
world to better prepare drivers. Basic Driver's Ed focuses
on the very basic rules of the road to obtain a driver's license
and only briefly touches on defensive driving in the classroom.
Driving Simulators, on the other hand, take
it to the next level. They provide a very different 'virtual'
type of training which is specifically geared to make the
student identify and avoid accident scenarios. Michigan Safe
Driving Association's new high
tech simulators give the feel of actually driving down the
road and can re-create up to 240 different accident scenerios
to train against! Most will crash, maybe several times,
before they begin to develop the right 'instincts' and reactions
necessary to avoid accidents. The best part is that
they gain these valuable skills without actually getting injured
or killed as many do in real vehicles.
